Purity: >=95%

Glyphosate Technical 95% is a high-purity, broad-spectrum, non-selective herbicide, widely used for effective weed control in agricultural and non-agricultural settings.

Description

Glyphosate Technical 95% is a concentrated form of N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine, an organophosphorus compound serving as a cornerstone non-selective systemic herbicide. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), an enzyme critical for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids (phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan) via the shikimate pathway. This pathway is essential for plant survival but absent in animals, making glyphosate highly effective against a wide range of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds while exhibiting low mammalian toxicity. The technical grade, with a minimum purity of 95%, is typically formulated into various end-use products such as soluble liquids, water-soluble granules, or wettable powders, often incorporating surfactants to enhance foliar absorption and translocation within the plant. Its post-emergent application leads to gradual senescence and death of treated plants, typically within several days to a few weeks, depending on environmental conditions and weed species. The high concentration ensures cost-effective manufacturing of downstream products and efficient transport.

Applications

Glyphosate Technical 95% is primarily utilized in the agricultural sector for pre-plant, in-crop (in conjunction with glyphosate-resistant crops), and post-harvest weed control in row crops such as corn, soybeans, cotton, and canola. It is also extensively employed in orchards, vineyards, and plantations for managing inter-row vegetation. Beyond agriculture, its applications extend to non-crop areas including industrial sites, railways, roadsides, utility rights-of-way, and forestry for vegetation management. Furthermore, it plays a critical role in no-till or reduced-tillage farming systems, contributing to soil conservation and reduction of erosion by controlling weeds without requiring mechanical soil disturbance.
